The Regional and Division Validators headed by Dr. Dennis M. Mendoza from NCR and Dr. Normina B. Haji Yunos from SDO Pasay monitored the school’s learning resource center on Thursday, February 23, 2023. The objectives of the monitoring were to ensure the operationalization of the school libraries; provide technical assistance to the librarians, teacher-librarians and library coordinators; and validate the submitted list of needed SLR’s for the school libraries. They interviewed the Librarian, School Principal, Assistant Principal, LR Focal Person, Ms. Biverly A. Teñoso and other concerned individuals to validate the tool if the school library is meeting library standards. The validators were accompanied by Ms. Nancy C. Mabunga , Mr. Fidel P. Gonzales, Ms. Gloudette B. Germinal and Mr. Aldrin B. Marcelo. The PSDS of cluster 9 and 10 were also present to give technical assistance, Dr. Basilisa D. Tomimbang and Mrs. Evelyn R. Ramos. Dr. Mendoza and Ms. Mabunga asked several questions about the source or donors of the different resources like books, multi media, internet facility and library equipment. There were many questions to validate if the school library has collection of updated books and periodicals. Other topics asked by the validators were on the physical set-up, equipment and signages, library collection, library services and activities. They also asked the item of the teacher-librarian, “I have units in library science for the reason that I am detailed as teacher-librarian,” Ms. Alligonero said. The school librarian was very busy preparing the library for weeks with the help of her officers to make it ready for the validators. According to her, all her staffers were mobilized to finish all parts of the library that need to rehash or fix.
On the other hand, Ms. Grace B. Torres, new OIC-School Principal was also very active a nswering to satisfy queries by the validators. “We have 2,015 as total population of the school at this time and it is a challenge to ou r part for the learners to continue visit the library to help increase their interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.” she said. ROGER B. ESCARILLA
