As part of the DEp Ed yearly preparation for the opening of the school year 2018 – 2019, the President Corazon C. Aquino National High School, Maricaban Pasay City, conducted Brigada Eskwela 2018 with the theme “Pagkakaisa para sa Handa, Ligtas at Matatag na Paaralan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan”.
To fulfill the goal of this year’s Brigada Eskwela, an organized set of committees was created headed by Mr. Bryan S. Balao, with the supervision of the School Principal, Mrs. Anicia E. Monton and the support of Class Advisers, Subject Teachers, Non – Teaching Personnel, Parents and the Community. Daily schedules were set to meet the objectives and thus herewith follows:
Day 1, dated May 28, 2018, Monday, an opening ceremony thru a kick – off parade was held and it was participated by the Teachers, Parents, GPTA Officers, Alumni, NGOs and students. The donations of pints and pails of paints were led and given by the Asiatel, Ms. Jenny Gura, Councilor Wowee Manguerra and the Honorable Congresswoman Emi – Calixto Rubiano. The opening salvo was really a blast! The bread pans and bottled waters were donated by Councilor Joey Calixto served as the refreshments during the opening program. The community leaders, particularly Vice Mayor Boyet Del Rosario, Barangay SK Officials, Advisers and Students donated the cleaning materials.
Day 2, dated May 29, 2018, Tuesday, started with the Red Cross Pasay City Chapter, as they initiated a bloodletting activity and blood type analysis. To assure educators’ participation, some of the school teachers wholeheartedly donated blood. These are Mr. Torres, Mr. Guese, Mr. Martinez, Mr. Balao, Ms. Denosta and Ms. Patterson. To maximize the cleaning materials donated, the SSG Officers, BSP, GSP, Bibliothic, Yes – O members started to clean the school vicinity.
Day 3, dated May 30, 2018, Wednesday, Mr. Bryan Paragua, RN, the official school nurse conducted the Anti – Rabies Seminar and Hand Washing Campaign. As part of the day 2 simultaneous events, Councilor Donna Vendivel also rendered a project called Bantay Altapresyon thru the GPTA Officers, while Pres. Custodio and Bussines Manager Mrs. Perlas changed the door knobs of the classrooms. The third day ended with appreciation for those front runners for untiringly painting the walls.
Day 4, dated May 31, 2018, Thursday, the school community was so blessed with the valuable information shared by Philippine National Police thru the conduct of the Anti – Bullying Seminar and Anti – Drug Seminar. Meanwhile, the Philippine Air Force showed their good heart by initiating the cleaning of the roofs’ gutters of the school gym and attention to clear the roofs above the Kia office was implemented as well. Aside from the cleaning and seminars led by men in uniform, the safety of school from fire and any untoward incidents was made possible thru the ocular visit of the Bureau of Fire Protection.
Day 5, dated June 1, 2018, Friday, the Bureau of Fire Protection thru BFP Malibay Chapter, on its first year of partnership with the school shared their knowledge thru a Fire Safety Seminar with the whole school as audience to prove that they are truly men in uniform with action. The BFP Officers flushed water to clean the school ground and donated cleaning materials eventually. Another exciting part of day 5 Brigada Eskwela is the livelihood seminar given by Ms. Jenny Gura on how to make her tried and tested cured pork tocino, while the staff of Cong. Emi Calixto – Rubiano also taught them how to’ s of organic salted eggs and Mary Kay staff conducted make overs and facial treatments to female teachers.
The last day of Brigada Eskwela, dated June 2, 2018 seemed not the end of the Brigada Eskwela because continuous activities were to be presented and witnessed by all the participants. The GPTA Officers exerted their full efforts to fight dengue by conducting Fogging Program.
School nurse, Mr. Bryan Paragua RN, helped Corazonians and other participants to value life and lessen accidents if not totally eradicate them thru a First Aid Seminar. Student leaders continued to help the school in achieving the neatness of the learning community and the school is very thankful, overwhelmed and touched with their compassion toward their school for the past six days of Brigada.
As one of the important highlights of the 2018 Brigada, the school principal presented one of the best innovation that the school will possibly have this year, the school handbook for students to be distributed in the coming school year 2018.
