The Special Needs Education (SNED) Family Day was successfully held on November 24, 2025, marking a significant initiative to strengthen the partnership between the school, learners, and their families. The event aimed to build a sense of community, encourage inclusive play, and create a supportive environment where parents and children could bond meaningfully. Through this activity, the school underscored the vital role of family involvement in the developmental journey of every learner with special needs.

Bringing together learners with diverse disabilities, the program ensured that every child participated actively in various activities. This was made possible through the collective efforts of the SNED focal person, teachers, school heads, and non-teaching personnel—all working collaboratively to guarantee the success of the event. Their dedication reflected the school’s commitment to providing equitable access to engaging and developmentally appropriate experiences for all learners.

The celebration aligned with DepEd Order No. 044, s. 2021, a policy that serves as the foundation for ensuring full and equitable access to the K to 12 Basic Education Program for all Learners with Disabilities (LWDs). Guided by this policy, the day’s activities focused on the principles of inclusion, emphasizing accommodations, modifications, individualized interventions, and collaborative services tailored to the unique needs of each learner.

A total of 6 parents and 32 LWDs participated, together with Department Heads, Teachers-in-Charge, and teachers. The program began with an opening prayer, nationalistic song, and the Pasay Hymn. Mr. Jay R. Cachuela, TLE Department Head, delivered the opening remarks, followed by the program rationale presented by Ms. Ma. Reynolyn A. Jose, SNEd Focal Person. Participants engaged in a warm-up activity titled “Welcome to the Family,” an action song that set a joyful tone for the event. They then proceeded to the main activity, “Handprint of Love,” where learners and their parents created a collaborative mural and later presented their work. To close the program, families enjoyed a simple meal prepared for the activity and received hygiene kits.

Throughout the program, families took part in structured games, parent-child bonding sessions, creative arts, and sensory-friendly play experiences. These activities were carefully crafted to promote social interaction, enhance communication skills, and boost the confidence of learners. Parents were also given opportunities to observe and practice strategies that support positive behavior, emotional regulation, and developmental growth at home.

Moreover, the SNED Family Day became an avenue for strengthening the home-school connection. Teachers were able to share insights on learners’ progress, while parents expressed their observations, concerns, and aspirations for their children. This exchange nurtured a deeper understanding of each learner’s needs and reinforced the shared responsibility between educators and families.

Overall, the 2025 SNED Family Day was more than just a celebration of inclusivity—it was a testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a learning environment where every child is valued, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive. The event’s success reaffirmed the importance of partnership, compassion, and collective responsibility in shaping meaningful educational experiences for all learners with disabilities.
