The learners who were absent were asked to do home-based catch-up Friday for this second Friday of implementation. The school implemented this initiative to provide learners with the opportunity to engage in independent silent reading of their preferred material. Other teachers used other strategies to implement this initiative as a remedy to bridge the learning gap. The second Friday implementation, we have followed up also the reading programs with more specific targets primarily focused on strengthening reading skills, and also values, health and peace education. It is aimed by the school implementers to help the learners of this school to become more proficient writers, critical thinkers, readers and analysts. The School Principal, Ma’am Grace B. Torres, followed strictly the DepEd Memo in implementing the initiative. She attended the Division Meeting and cascaded it to the Department Head, TICs, OICs and Subject Group Heads for simultaneous implementation every Friday. ROGER B. ESCARILLA
